The facets catch the light beautifully - especially if you print with a metallic or silky filament. 

I designed this ornament to be quick and easy to print and assemble. It's made of 3 pieces that fit pretty well with friction, but a drop of glue will secure them. The tallest piece is under 170mm high. So, you should be able to print this on most printers. You can attach the top directly to the bottom (no middle section) to make a shorter ornament or connect multiple middle sections to make a taller ornament.

The ornament is very light and doesn't require supports. 

For those who have larger printers, I've attached a version that's one piece. However, it's much larger than my printer can print, so it should be considered experimental.

A spinning toy top designed from scratch around a star theme so that it could be printed in multiple colors to resemble the American flag.

Stars and Stripes Top

Here's a quick print for the holidays. The ornament is only 23mm wide and you can print a batch of 6 of them in under 20 minutes. This is designed to hang on mini trees.

There's a tiny hole at the top so you can run a loop of thread through the ornament to hang them.

There's no need for supports, rafts and at 0.9mm thick, you should just print them solid. Either set infill to 100% or make sure the top and bottom thickness add up to 0.9mm or more.

Spring is Near

This is a new take on my [Counterswirl Top](https://thangs.com/designer/dazus%20k/3d-model/Counterswirl%20Top-855480?manualModelView=true&source=All+Files). The original top had 2 arms twisting clockwise and 10 arms twisting counterclockwise. This has 3 and 12, which increases the mass and lessens the impact of small irregularities or alignment issues. It spins beautifully at any size from 100% to 55%.

To get the stem of the 55% to print well, I created a new version of the STLs with thicker stems. I also added GCODE to my 3MF file to drop the print head temp down to 177 at 10.50 mm. That worked really well, but I also found that printing two at once improves the print quality of the stem even more. So, the 3MF and GCODE files I've provided for 55% include pieces for 2 tops.

If you want to print the 1 piece top, I'd suggest doing it inverted with the provided support collar. It goes around the stem and keeps the top from wobbling while it prints. The collar breaks away easily once the print is done if you get it adjusted right for your printer. I tried this technique with another of my tops and it worked OK, but the final print quality was pretty rough on top and it didn't spin better. It also took a lot longer and required more filament. Still, if you want to print the top as one piece, I recommend using the stem and printing just the first 30mm (takes about 45 minutes). While the print is still on the plate, try moving the stem sideways to see if it has give. Then, remove it from the plate and the collar and see if it was too tight. Then, scale the collar up or down as needed (probably no more than 0.5 - 1%). 

This is a great design for 2 or 3 color filament, rainbow filament, or adding color changes by swapping filament.

**Print Settings**

If you don't use my 3MF file, I suggest you set perimeters to 11 (yes, really) and infill to 100%. The tops need the mass to spin well.

Also, print external perimeters first. I couldn't explain why, but they are a lot smoother if you print the outside first.

I added grid supports with an overhang angle of 50 degrees.

An elegant holiday decoration created by overlapping diamond patterns over a basic ball with stem. The ornament is printed as a single piece. It requires some infill, but only in certain places.

The ornament prints very well with the standard 0.4mm nozzle but prints even better with a 0.25 nozzle.

I've provided my PrusaSlicer 3mf file (for 0.4mm nozzle), which includes all the height adjustments to minimize weight while providing the necessary top, bottom, and infill needed for a beautiful print. Some supports are needed, but not a lot. I used organic supports.

I included GCODE in my 3MF file to reduce the nozzle temp at key places to avoid having the filament overheat. The nozzle starts at 200c and decreases at key points down to 180c. You may need to adjust these based on your filament.

The filament shown is MatterHackers Quantum Purple Gold. The design will look good in a variety of filaments, from single color silky or glitter filaments to rainbow and 2 or 3 color filaments.

A bold and elegant Easter egg design that looks different from every angle. Rotate the two pieces and the patterns change.

To open the egg, grab both halves, wiggle & pull apart. The bottom half has a slight ridge on 2 sides that clicks into a groove in the top. Because of that, it's easier to separate them wiggling in one direction than another. If wiggling one way doesn't work, try the other. It does get easier to open with use. When the pieces are together, hold one side and twist the other 360 degrees a few times and it will loosen up dramatically. You can also encourage it a little (if necessary) with a little sand paper.

This is relatively easy to print. Both pieces can be printed “right side up” so you can use 3-color filament or rainbow filament and have the colors match up.

For settings, you can give it 2 perimeters, 15% infill, and default top and bottom thickness. The top prints best with supports for the inner dome (I used paint-on supports) and the bottom works best with a brim or supports for bed adhesion. I used PrusaSlicer's pain-on supports.

If you want it to print lighter and faster, you can use the settings I've provided in my PrusaSlicer 3MF files and MKS3+ GCODE. There, I've used layer height adjustments to vary infill and top/bottom thickness to reduce weight and improve print time.

If you want to print eggs that fit inside each other like [Matryoshka dolls](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll), I recommend scaling to 100%, 70%, and 50%. To print below 50%, you'll need to use a 0.25mm nozzle.

Tightness of the pieces will vary based on a lot of factors, including scale. If you find the pieces are too tight, you could sand the rim of the bottom piece a little. If that doesn't work, consider reprinting with less flow, lower temperature, more elephant foot compensation, but first make sure you have the printer calibrated so the first layer prints well.

So, it needs to be scaled down slightly more. The inside of this egg is the same size as all my other eggs, so you can more easily resize, mix and match nested eggs. To print below 46%, you may need to use a 0.25mm nozzle.
