This is a collapsing Katana sword designed to be printed as one part. Its only 182mm high when printed but expands to over 825mm in total length! The sword is designed to be printed with a ,4mm nozzle, the blade will be two shells thick.

**Collapsing Master Sword**
This Master Sword prints-n-place as just the hilt but extends in to a full sword. Its 250mm tall when printing but extends to 870mm long! The sword is designed to be printed with a .4mm nozzle so the blade is two shells thick. The line width should be set to .42mm.

**Scale**
If you must scale only scale Z or change your nozzle size to match a smaller scale nozzle. For example, you can use a .3 nozzle and scale it to 75%, .32mm line width.  This would make it roughly 190mm tall. 

**Print Settings**
I had issues printing this the first time, I would suggest everyone do print the test print which can be found [here](https://thangs.com/3dprintingworld/MASTER-SWORD-TEST-PRINT-35236)  I printed several of them to better tune the retraction at layer changes. My issue was the size of the layer seams were causing the blades to fuse. The test print is a total of 24mm high so I change retraction setting every 8mm.  Then I compare the changes until I achieve the best result. Each printer is going to be different but in my case I used a negative “extra restart” distance to reduce the size of the layer seam.

Collapsing Master Sword (Print-in-place)

This is a test print for the collapsing swords and Light Sabers.  If you can print thing without the rings sticking together then you should be able to successfully print the full sword. 

The test print is a total of 24mm high so I change retraction settings every 8mm.  Then I compare the changes until I achieve the best result. 

Each printer is going to be different but in my case I used a negative “extra restart” distance to reduce the size of the layer seam. Retraction distance/speed, wipe, coast, temperature, speed may also have an effect. 


Sword-Saber Test Print

This is a test print for the collapsing swords and Light Sabers.  If you can print thing without the rings sticking together then you should be able to successfully print the full sword. 

This is a test print for the Collapsing Katana.  If you can print it with NOTHING attaching the rings together, then you should be able to successfully print the full sword.


The test print is a total of 24mm high so I change settings every 8mm(3x)  then compare the changes until I achieve the best result. The settings that will have the most impact are; flowrate, retraction distance/speed, coast, wipe, and extra restart distance.  You may also try; seam location, speed, temperature, and z-hop.

**DANGER NOODLES!**

While running the AnyCubic Kobra Max I found that the part cooling ducts left something to be desired.  Yay the machine has dual 4010 fans, but they exit the shroud too far from the printer nozzle and are not well guided.  In comes my add-on Fan Ducts that guide the air much closer to the nozzle area AND block off areas where the part cooling blowers could suck in hot air! Fits both the AnyCubic Kobra Max and the Vyper line of printers.

**Installation:**_(See photos to help.)_ Remove the stock Fan Shroud from the print head.  Locate the screws that hold on the blower fan retainer pieces & remove (save screws).  Slip new Part Cooling Ducts into the opening of the old ducting (has a clip to "latch on"). Firmly press the Ducts into the shroud along side the Blower Fans until the ducts are flush against the fans. Reinstall original screw through the ducts.  Reinstall the Shroud onto the print head, being careful to not pinch the wiring as there is now less room.  

**AFTER ASSEMBLY:** Be sure to run an "Auto Level" run to ensure that the wiring and new parts are not interfering with the strain sensor and Bed Leveling functions properly.  If you find ANY issue, adjust the wiring inside of the shroud and repeat the process.

The 40mm "Guide" is meant to funnel the Heatsink air more directly to the Heatsink and slightly shield the Blower fans from the heatsink.  I don't know how effective it is, but I included it as I'm using it currently.

Collapsing Master Sword Multi-Color

This is the test print for the collapsing Master sword.  Its  24mm high so what I do is  change retraction setting every 8mm.  Then I compare the changes until I achieve the best result. Each printer is going to be different but in my case  for this blade I used a negative “extra restart” distance to reduce the size of the layer seam. 

If the three pieces are completely separate you should have a successful print.

Here's the split version of the Captain America shield, with the added handle file:  

8 different Outer Ring Files, an Inner Circle, and a handle file that can be used for both sides.

Each handle mount file should work with straps ~ 1.5 inches in width.

Modeled to be comic accurate in size (meaning 2.5 feet in diameter). Scale to 86% for 26 inches in diameter (much more reasonable).

It is incredibly captivating to be beside this simple DIY wooden table as the steel ball magically carves out an endless and ever changing series of beautiful geometric patterns in the sand.

**William Wallace - Scottish Claymore**
_Print-in-Place Version_

This is my take on a collapsing William Wallace’s Scottish Claymore. Not only is it ridiculously large but I also added another blade segment so it extends extra far. This version prints-in-place as one part, Its 320mm tall when printing but extends to 1530mm lg. 

The [Replaceable Blade](https://than.gs/m/180409) version is available to my Thangs Members.


**Printing**
Use a .4mm nozzle and set the line width to .43 so the blades are two shell thick. If you would like to scale it down try printing the vase mode version instead. Note: I did not print this version, I printed the replaceable blade version.  Let me know if you run into any issues.
