Get A Perfect Fit!

Get A Perfect Fit!

Whether you prefer to glue the pieces together or desire snap-fit snugness, you may need to make some minor adjustments to get that perfect fit that you're looking for. My preferred method for doing this is using 'X/Y Contour Compensation' / 'Horizontal Expansion', depending on your slicer. This setting allows you to increase or decrease the width of a model along the X and Y axes by a given amount. Entering a positive value will thicken the model, while a negative value will shrink it inward. As an example specific to this design: if the leaves are slightly loose, simply increase the "width" of the part by entering the desired amount of growth (i.e. [0.1mm]) and print a new, better fitting one.

  There I was. Headed home from a mundane grocery run, when suddenly, I found myself lit up with inspiration after seeing a flower-like pinwheel in a neighbor's yard. My brain started turning right away, thinking of how I would design my own. Aaand...VOILA!

I give you, my decorative flower-motif Modular Pinwheel Building Kit. A multi-part design that allows for quick & simple printing and assembly. Though most parts fit together tightly, some glue is required for securing the petals, face cap, and leaves in place. If necessary, tolerances can be adjusted using the settings in your slicer. Should you need to resize any parts, you can easily do so using 'Horizontal Expansion' or 'XY Compensation' to increase and/ or decrease the diameter of both the part and all holes within, independently.  


  All the pieces needed to assemble the pinwheel shown in the picture are included:

  • 5 Petals
  • 1 Face Cap
  • 1 Rotor Wheel
  • 1 Body
  • 2 Stems
  • 2 Leaves
  • 1 Coupler
