This tile travels across the game with a ball on board, opening big-brain plays almost as bizarre as en passant. Put your foes in check with this chess-inspired tile for Hextraction, the hackable, 3D-printable board game.

Even though it's got a neat self-resetting mechanism, this tile is fully printed, so if you don't have the hardware to make the Flipper Tile, you can capture some of its gameplay with the King. Since it needs open slots to work, it's strongest in the early and midgame. Consider adding some Bomb Tiles and other tile removers to open up more wiggle room!

I strongly recommend printing the Spring in PLA for stiffness, and the other components in PETG or nylon for smoothness. Print the Knob with the icon facing up, and the Upper with arrows against the plate, supports enabled. The Lower, Spring, and Kard don't need supports. To assemble:

1. Put a thin bead of glue around the center peg on the King Lower, drop in the Spring flat side down, and let it set.
2. If possible, apply some plastic-safe grease to the Knob's underside and tabs.
3. Push the Knob into the Upper, and make sure the Knob's tabs nest into the Upper's tracks.
4. Apply glue to the four pegs on the Lower. Drop the Knob and Upper onto the Lower and let the glue set.
5. If necessary, apply more grease to make the motion smooth.

This “Wormhole Chess Board” is composed of two back-to-back regular sized chess boards connected by a catenoid surface through the central 4 x 4 grid of squares on each board.

Actual game play on this board is beyond challenging so unless you’re a genius, this board is more of an art or conversation piece.

Part of what makes game play so challenging is the presence of the eight pentagons that are required to transition between the flat and curved surfaces. 

Here are a few suggestions if you want to try playing. 

Moving a piece through a pentagon allows for additional movement options. When entering from a column or row on the flat surface (such as with a rook) there are two exit options, one that allows the piece to remain on the flat surface and another that allows the piece to enter the wormhole. The reverse is true when entering a pentagon from the wormhole. When entering a pentagon from a diagonal (such as with a bishop) there are two options for exiting the pentagon, both of which allow the piece to remain on its own colour. 

Because this piece is essentially two chess boards, there are four possible ends from which to start your pieces. 

For a two-player game, each player could use a single set or pieces each and leave two ends empty. Alternatively, each player could have two sets of pieces facing each other across the flat surface as well as through the catenoid surface. This means that there would be two kings, which would complicate the end game somewhat!

Another option would be to play as a four-player game with each set of pieces a different colour.

If anyone comes up with a comprehensive set of rules for incorporating the pentagons into game play, please share them! 

Here are printing and assembly instructions:

For the board, print two of each of the “Flat Board Half” and “Wormhole Half” files. No supports needed. Glue together carefully.

For the squares, you will need a total of 4 “Quadrant of Squares” for each colour. Note that there are small reference dimples on the bottom of the curved pieces. When properly positioned, the dimples will point towards the pentagonal piece.

Two standard sets of playing pieces are included, each with holes for 1/8” by 1/8” magnets. The larger size looks better, but pieces may collide when passing through the wormhole. Pieces in the smaller set won’t collide while passing through the wormhole.

You will need a total of 208 1/8” cylindrical magnets, one for each board piece and each playing piece (assuming you’re using two full sets of playing pieces). This model uses 1/8” length magnets, but 1/16” length would probably work fine. 

Insert the magnets into the square tiles before gluing them on to the frame. Make sure you get the polarity right so that all the pieces stick to all the squares! The magnets used in the design and assembly of this model were purchased through www.kjmagnetics.com. 

Once you’ve inserted the magnets and determined the correct orientation of each piece, go ahead and glue them in place. CA glue works well.

Game play remains the same but instead of moving in straight lines, pieces move in arcs across the surface of the sphere. 

Magnets are required to hold the pieces in place unless you are playing in a non-Euclidean universe.

The “Spherical Chess Board Frame” is provided with and without supports. The version with supports provides extra stability around the base of the pillars when printing. You will still need to add your preferred support for the rest of the structure, but you’ll need less of it. 

You will need a total of four “Tile Quadrants,” two of each colour. 

A standard set of playing pieces is included with holes for 1/8” by 1/8” magnets. 

You will need a total of 96 1/8” by 1/8” magnets, one for each square and one for each piece. Insert the magnets into the square tiles before gluing them on to the frame. The magnets used in the design and assembly of this model were purchased through www.kjmagnetics.com. 

Proper positioning of the “square” tiles on the board framework is the most challenging part of assembly. There are a few pieces that have very subtle differences in curves and edge lengths, and it is easy to put them in incorrectly. To make this easier, small dimples have been added to the bottoms of each “square” tile. There is a single dimple on the uppermost corner of every tile to ensure proper orientation. There is a single dimple on the outer chamfer of the four inner “squares,” and two dimples on the outer chamfer of the outer twelve “squares.” Refer to the picture provided.

Arrange the piece first, do a dry fit to make sure you’ve got it right, then use glue to attach the tiles to the framework. CA glue works well.

The magnet holes on the pieces and tiles are designed for a tight fit and shouldn’t need glue. Make sure you get the polarity right so that all the pieces stick to all the squares!

This is a musical instruments chess set.

It includes pieces, a gift box and a chess board.

The instruments are: xylophone, harp, guitar, french horn and drum and the pawns are two quavers.

The gift box comes in two sizes the double height will hold both sets of pieces. 

The board is printed in two pieces (one in each colour) and can be slotted together without glue.

Music Chess Set

**Objective:**
The objective of Peg Solitaire is to remove as many pegs as possible, ideally leaving just one peg remaining on the board.

**Gameplay:**
Start with the board set up with pegs in all holes, except for one predetermined hole (often the center hole) left empty.
- Pegs can only move horizontally or vertically, not diagonally.
- A peg can jump over an adjacent peg (either horizontally or vertically) to an empty hole on the other side, similar to how pieces move in checkers when capturing.
- The peg that was jumped over is removed from the board and considered "captured."
The game continues by making subsequent jumps, capturing pegs until no more legal moves can be made.
The goal is to make as many jumps as possible, ideally leaving just one peg on the board. If you succeed in leaving only one peg, you've won the game.

**Rules and Restrictions:**
You can only jump over a single peg at a time.
You can't jump over an empty hole.
The peg that is jumping must land in an empty hole after the jump.
The peg being jumped over must be adjacent to the peg making the jump, either horizontally or vertically.

**Winning:**
The game is considered a success if you end up with only one peg left on the board. If you achieve this, you have won the game. If you leave more than one peg on the board, or if no legal moves are possible, you lose the game.

Peg Solitaire- Basic Triangle

This print-in-place chess set prints with board and all 32 pieces in a single print.

The pieces are separate objects but are held captive within the board and move along notches during game play. Because the pieces are held captive, the board could be used as a travel chess set.

Use paint to darken the appropriate square and pieces. The pieces can be removed and reinserted by pushing against the back of the board to splay the notches apart.

The board is 204.2 mm square. The bottom is thin to reduce material, so you’ll need to monitor the first layer closely and restart if there are any errors. The build plate needs to be perfectly level and calibrated.

Files include the full board and pieces, separate pieces in case you need to replace any, and a board structure without pieces if you want to add your own.

Who wants another twisting, sliding, satisfyingly snapping puzzle? Well it's here, and it's **the CHAIN** (Now with extra _grooviness_)

Two interlooping tracks hold 30 marbles that mix up when you twist the halves into alternating positions. Sometimes you have a large 18 marble track looping around a smaller 12 marble track, while in another position you'll have two 15 marble tracks locked together.


Rotate the two halves of this twisting CHAIN and move the marbles along the shifting tracks until all like colors touch. For a simplified version of the puzzle use 15 marbles of two colors. For the true CHAIN challenge, use 5 marbles of 6 different colors. This puzzle is designed for use with these [14mm ABS or Acrylic no hole beads ](http://bit.ly/PuzzleBeads)(actual diameter is ~13.6mm). Use the included clip to snap the two Chain halves together to securely join the puzzle. You will also need 8 [6mmx3mm (1/4"x1/8") neodymium magnets](https://amzn.to/44Z1z6z) for a smooth and satisfying snap between positions. I use [E6000 craft adhesive](https://amzn.to/3OHX22J) to make sure the magnets are absolutely fixed in place. I like to use ABS filament for the clips for longevity, but I've also used PLA clips with no issues yet.


This download also includes an _assembler.stl_ part, which makes it easier to snap the two halves of the puzzle together, since it can be a bit tricky to close without losing your marbles. 

Support material isn't necessarily required, though a small pillar of support under the arch of the larger loop may help achieve the cleanest print.

**Which version to print:**

To compensate for size variance in bead sourcing, there are two versions of _theChain.stl_. Use the _theChain-v2.stl_ if your beads are on average larger than 13.6mm diameter. Otherwise use the original version. To quickly check ball diameter, I've included a _MarbleChecker.stl_. If the ball fits through with little force, it is smaller than 13.6mm (given the checker is printed accurately. I recommend checking the checker with calipers o.O)

The addicting and mesmerizing Astrolabicon Puzzle has finally been upgraded to be just a bit better in just about every way!

Rotate the two halves of this twisting hexasphericon and move the marbles along its shifting track to rearrange them until all like colors touch. The classic difficulty is to have 4 different colors, with 6 marbles of each color for a total of 24. This version of the Astrolabicon has been designed for use with [14mm ABS or Acrylic no hole beads ](http://bit.ly/PuzzleBeads)(actual diameter is ~13.6mm). 

The newly improved design includes a clip that snaps the two Astrolabicon halves together to securely join the puzzles. It also uses 12 [6mmx3mm (1/4"x1/8") neodymium magnets](https://amzn.to/3Qtm6f6) for a smooth and satisfying snap between positions. The magnets should fit snugly in the holes and you may need to use a flat surface to press fit the magnets flush. I also use [E6000 craft adhesive](https://amzn.to/3OHX22J) to make sure the magnets are absolutely fixed in place. I like to use ABS filament for the clips for longevity, but I've also used PLA prints with no issues yet.
