I made these for personal use but I figured I’d share them with the community. Some make rule changes, some change text font, some change the formatting, and some never had rules cards to begin with.
On Play Effect Cards
- Chain Reactor | On Play: Place up to 3 balls on the holes.
- Landslide | On Play: Move top adjacent tile to lower on the board, no rotating.
- Summon | On Play: Draw a tile. Play it in a random slot with a random orientation.
- Tactical Discard | On Play: Play all tiles in your hand without overwriting. If you must overwrite a tile, you can't play it.
Ongoing/Static Effect Cards
- Balls are Stored in the P | Forbidden; Ongoing: Teleport any ball that falls off of the board into this. 3-Ball rule activates at 5 balls for this. On Destroy: Rotate this and release stored balls.
- Worm Hole | Forbidden; Ongoing: Teleport any ball that falls off of the board into this. 3-Ball rule activates at 5 balls for this. On Destroy: Rotate this and release stored balls.
Trigger Effect Cards
- Angel Up & Angel Down | Angel(s) Tile; Trigger: Remove all trapped balls in the direction of the arrows.
- An-Tile-Kythera | Setup: Tile must be oriented as shown. Trigger: If a ball falls through, turn the wheel 60 degrees.
- Ascent | Trigger: Teleport all balls stuck in this to any ramp of the highest Ascent Tile.
- Clone Army | Trigger: Spawn a ball in all Teleport Out tiles. If none exist, roll again. Can only activate once per turn.
- Contagion | Trigger: Overwrite the previous tile this ball touched with this. Destroy balls in this. When this moves to top row, destroy this. Limit: Can't be played top row.
- Dispenser | Setup: Tile must be oriented as shown. There must be 2 balls in the bottom of the flipper, spawn balls if needed. Trigger: Activate setup.
- Holographic Tileframe | Holographic; Trigger: If ball falls through an open slot, you may install an additional tile into that slot.
- Sniper | Trigger: Destroy any tile then replay it in the same slot. Cant target Sniper tiles.
- Trashcan | Trigger: Discard a tile from your hand.
- Trickshot | Limit: Can't play before rolling. Forbidden; Trigger: If this ball gets caught by the magnet by landing from above, current player wins.
Guide for Creating a Rules Card For others creators who want to make single part rules cards, here’s my tedious recommendations/ guidelines based on personal experience creating cards. I use Solidworks for 3D modeling, there might be workflow differences with others CADs. These are instructions are intended as a jumping off point for newer people to 3D modeling and aren’t the only way to make them. Hopefully it helps someone!
- Card | Use the Blank Tile Card. Create a skeleton sketch of the 50mm hexagon on the top face where the tile will be. Call this file Example Card Base.
- Font | The OG font is Evogira, standardized by Zack for his tiles and cards. More preferably, use EvogiraPrintable, made by Balthazar a fellow Hextraction creator. It modifies special characters to make them, well, more 3D printable. Please don't use other fonts.
- Title Text | In the Card Base, sketch a vertical line, offset 1mm from the right vertex of the hexagon. Create a horizontal line, starting at the vertical line and ending at the right edge of card. Align it with the bottom edge of the key-ring hole. Put the text on this. My recommended font size 6mm, justify left. Put Tile in the title if possible, but If you can’t, exclude it. Moving the Title over left is fine only if necessary. Don't make the font size smaller than the Description font size.
- Description Text | Create a horizontal line, starting at the Vertical line and ending at the right edge of card. Put the text on this. My recommended font size is 3.5mm (it prints a little small, but it’s readable and you can fit more text on card. Feel free to make the font larger if you desire, whatever looks best is good.) Paragraph the Effect Causes with more space by creating a separate line. Center the Description between the bottom of Title and bottom of card. I usually eyeball it. If referencing a specific tile, Italicize it. Extrude the text 1.2mm from card face.
- Tile Detail | It should extrude only 1.2 mm from the card face, the same height as the text. Do this by making a copy file of the final tile, I call it Example Card Detail Tile. Make a plane down 1.8mm offset from the top of tile and cut everything beneath it. It’s a different height, we’ll get to that.
- Misc Details | If details the are cut into the floor of a tile, it should be raised on the card, like an indicator arrow for example. You can typically not include stars, unless they are integral to the design. You might have to create a separate file called something like Example Card Detail Arrow. Make sure this detailing file is 1.2mm tall. Repeat step 6 for any mechanisms or other prominent features.
- Bringing it All Together | Make an assembly, starting with the Card Base which should also have your text on it. Name this assembly Example Card. Bring in the Tile Detail and mate it, offset .6mm into the card. Bring in Detail Misc if needed and mate it to the card face. Make sure there is no bridges and 45+ degree overhangs. Once you’re all good, export it. Double check it in your slicer to see if your output coordinates are correct. You want the card to lay flat by default.
