This is the Filacaster (Filament Caster), my 3d printed guitar in the classic American axe style. This is a new upload, because the old one got messed up when I was versioning and there were multiple copies of the same parts that I couldn't remove.
This guitar is split into 9 elements to facilitate printing on most desktop FDM printers. The parts are referenced with 4.75mm printable layout pins and should be epoxied together.
I would recommend adding some solid infill in your slicer around the tremelo block mounting points and printing the 3 center elements with a high infill (+50%) to increase strength.
I have printed an earlier version of this guitar without the holes and while it does play, it is heavy, cumbersome without the tummy cut and probably not comparable to a real guitar in terms of intonation stability and the like.
Since I printed the prototype, I've added the hexagonal holes, not so much as a design choice but as a way to reduce weight. I know this pattern is played out these days but I really did print the original in May 2021, before there were dozens of printed stratoclones all over the printer-verse.
A standard Strat style pickguard should fit, but I've included a two part guard that follows the hex cutouts and has some additional mounting holes.
Print with high infill, support from the bed. I printed the prototype with an 0.8 nozzle but I'm sure it would look even better with 0.4 and ironing enabled, time permitting.
When I print this newer version I will upload photos of it, in the meantime I added some pictures of the prototype without the holes. Please excuse the epoxy stains, I wasn't careful. :)
UPDATE
Forgot to add the slot for the selector switch to the bottom of the pick guard. Oops.
