Here is a holster for my Leatherman Wave Classic (the original Wave) multitool. I like that I can remove and replace the multitool with one hand, quickly and easily. Other holsters I have seen rely on friction or a flap to keep the mutlitool in-place; neither convenient nor secure for my needs. This holster retains the tool horizontally; vertical holsters have a knack of digging into the thigh.
The holster retains the knife in position with a pair of Neodymium magnets. The holster secures to your belt with an integrated belt clip. The belt clip supports belts up to 38mm (1.5in) wide and 4mm thick.
The pair of Neodymium magnets I use are rectangular with dimensions 14.0x6.5x3.0mm. The magnets securely retains the tool in the holster for my needs. You need to test the magnetic hold strength to ensure that the tool can be held in-place during your intended activities. I secured the magnets to the printed holster with CA (Super) glue.
To note, the current Leatherman Wave tool is the Wave+. Unfortunately, the tool dimensions have changed enough to not fit into my current holster design. If someone can direct me to complete and accurate measurements for the current Wave+, I'd consider releasing a revised holster to fit.
My print is made in 1.75mm eSUN PLA+ filament, with 0.2mm layer height and 25% infill on a Bambu X1 Carbon printer. Print supports are not required. Part is by default orientated in the way I printed them on the print bed. Probably wise to include a brim when printing the part.
I hope that you can find this print useful, too. If so, you can support my work by buying me a coffee … Buy Me a Coffee
