CAUTION: 2024-11-01 Please be aware this system is probably not the right solution for any X1 Series printer. But I am leaving it posted in case someone has a situation I am not aware of. Instead, use the exhaust system posted as X1 Series and P1S Exhaust v3 which is posted here... https://than.gs/m/1165607

This exhaust system for the X1 series of machines is an upgrade from my previously released X1 exhaust system. This version 2.0 system now captures the exhaust from the machine at the poop chute as well as from the top of the machine. In addition, it provides a facility for installing LED lighting to illuminate the machine’s print area.

Like my design for the P1S, this exhaust tilts backward at the top back of the machine and allows the AMS lid to open fully.

The optional LED lighting support bars allow you to install an adhesive-backed LED lighting strip into the top of your machine for additional internal lighting. This can be added or removed at any time.

I understand that the exhaust fan of the X1 sucks air in compared to the P1S which blows air out. Therefore this design is specifically for the X1 series of machines.

The idea is to capture the VOCs from the fan port and from the top of the machine at the same time, and then vent all of that away from the machine when desired.

This exhaust system sits on top of the machine (under the glass). It lifts the glass up 20mm to create space for an exhaust port and it reaches down the back of the machine to capture the machine’s exhaust fan’s output from the poop chute. You then attach an exhaust hose to the top to remove all exhaust. You can use my variable flow valve to block or open the exhaust flow. And, use my quick-release head so that you can easily remove the exhaust hose at any time.

The entire system is removable at any time. All parts are printable on the X1 and require no support.

2024-10-02 Update:

I have posted an extra-large (2-litre) poop bin for this system here... https://than.gs/m/1148846

I have posted upgraded parts (the Funnel and Fan Cover) for this system which are needed if you have a multi-AMS Hub. In fact, these new upgraded parts can be used if you do not have the AMS Hub also so I recommend using those parts instead of the Funnel and Fan Cover included in this design. The new parts are available here... https://than.gs/m/1148881

The Quick Release Head is part of an entire system of exhaust parts that you may want to be aware of. Please check it out here.... https://www.logicalplanet.com/2024/02/11/quick-connect-exhaust/

Also, I have a Variable Flow Valve that you can also incorporate into the system which is described here... https://www.logicalplanet.com/2024/03/05/variable_flow_valve/

The new LED lighting support bars allow you to install an adhesive-backed LED lighting strip into the top of your machine for additional internal lighting. I designed it for this lighting strip but anything similar should work. I have included some small slots for zip ties in case the adhesive on the back of the lighting fails.

100% printed - no additional hardware required. No additional support is required.

Printing

Material: I recommend PETG for the exhaust hose side and PLA for the components that contact the printer. But everything can be done in PLA or PETG.

My Setup: Nozzle = 0.4mm

My Settings: Layer height = 0.2mm Line width = 0.4mm Wall count = 4 (1.6mm) Top and Bottom Layer Count = 5 Infill = 40% Cubic Ironing = Not required Brim = No Support = No

Commercial Licensing is available through my logicalplanet Memberships here on Thangs. I will customize and provide commercial support to members on request.

I am committed to helping everyone get great print results to the extent I can so please contact me if you are having issues I enjoy trying to help resolve those challenges. I welcome requests, suggestions and ideas to help make this and all my products better. Please send me a message any time.
