Harness the Mandarin’s Ten Rings, on a floating necklace

Printed in Gold Silk PLA, printed on Black Tulle Fabric from Walmart (5 usd), and spare string

Inspired by Marvel’s Shang Chi Design Execution by Billie Ruben’s amazing guide on 3D printing on fabric- linked here https://www.billieruben.info/post/guide-3d-printing-onto-fabric which was originally developed by David Shorey (https://twitter.com/shoreydesigns/status/1086859466971086848)

Instructions are simple - the big picture workflow is:

  1. Print your PLA normally for the first 3-5 first layers
  2. Pausing print manually or in gcode at the 3-5th layer
  3. lay down your fabric (can be Tulle, net, or organza), and secure it with binder clips OR in my personal favorite, using neodymium magnets (on prusa steel sheets!)
  4. resume printing after that and the fabric will be "encased" by the plastic!

The following guide is adapted from Billie Ruben's guide in Cura (which needed custom gcode weirdness). Prusa Slicer makes adding in pauses/change filaments much easier. https://imgur.com/a/9oWUNpg
