Relive the magic of the Legend of Zelda with this LED Zelda Master Sword Frikarte3D Remix, a 3D printable model that lights up. This model, is a remix of the Adafruit model, which is also a remix of the original model by Chaos Core Tech. Frikarte3D made this model for a carnival troupe that dressed up as a wedding cake, and he needed a sword to pretend to cut the cake with his wife. He modified the files to suit his needs and added some features to make it easier to print and assemble.

This model has the following differences from the original models:

  • It has a hole in the wings that fits the manual controller for the LED lights he used, and removed the hole for the Adafruit Feather board.
  • It has a hole in the handle for a button that can turn on the lights, in case the power bank has one. It also has a button and some sockets for the screws on the mini battery plate. If your power bank don't have this button, just print the no hole version twice.
  • It has a modified tip of the sword that avoids a hole in the print and fits the LED strip better.
  • It has some pins to align the bottom of the sword blade and some of the parts.
  • It has some pieces to reinforce the horizontal joints between the different parts of the sword that can be used or not.
  • It has fixed the general problems of the structure of some of the parts, such as geometrical errors on the cut zones, reversed faces, thin walls, and holes in the mesh.

This is are the components I used to build this

This model also has the following advantages and disadvantages compared to the original models:

Advantages:

  • The cost of the materials is cheaper, as it only requires an LED strip and a power bank, which cost less than €20, compared to the more than €100 of the Adafruit components.
  • You don’t need to know how to solder to make this project, just the basics of how to disassemble a power bank without damaging it and how to plug USB cables.
  • You have Bambu Studio 3mf files for direct printing files, and even a multi-color version.
  • All files have been repaired and reviewed to print correctly and to use the minimum supports required.

Disadvantages:

  • Using lower quality LEDs makes the appearance less cool.
  • Not using the Adafruit feather makes the lighting effect simplier.
  • It has not sound effects
  • Using a power bank with USB LED strips can mean that they will still consume the battery even if they are not lit, so it will have to be charged more often.
  • It remains to solve where to put the USB charging cable to make it more hidden and elegant.

This LED Zelda Master Sword Frikarte3D Remix is a perfect 3D printable model for any fan of the Legend of Zelda, or anyone who wants to have a fun and original accessory for cosplay, carnival or a party. It has LED lights that make it look like a real sword from the game. You can see how Frikarte3D built the entire sword and the final result on his Instagram. If asked I can post instructions of how I build it on my blog.
