Had issues trying to get a smaller master spool to fit on the original. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1738730 I beveled the edges and removed about .25mm from the bottom. I have an Ender 3 Pro which has a slotted nut so used the nut from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3502973 (STL included)
Print needs to be placed on its longest side for best print and to reduce the amount of supports. Might try a raft as the support on the threads where a little hard to remove. No supports needed for the beveled edges.
I started using MicroCenter Inland PLA+ and found that the center hole was not solid and was causing issues rotating. Created a small spool insert (54mm x 63mm).
I placed small pieces of newspaper inside to slow the roll down.
