I made a box using TinkerCAD shape generator for the LM2596s buck converter (https://amzn.to/3lGjPwJ). I liked this one because it has the built in voltmeter. Although larger than other LM2596s buck converters I like the features. The holes fit m3 bolts and are designed to be mounted from the bottom using m3 nuts on the inside. Combined with an XT60 Y-Cable (https://amzn.to/3GirFpy) and chopped micro-usb cable I am able to power my RasberryPi off of the Ender 3 Pro.
I had to set the buck converter to output 5.2V to not get the "low voltage" warning in Octoprint.
- I printed this is PLA.
- 0.28 layer height.
- No supports.
