I have a leather studio in my house, and I have a sanding station set up next to a vacuum hose to suction all the leather fibers as I'm sanding down edges. I initially purchased a shop vacuum from Home Depot, but it turned out to be excessively loud, to the point I had to wear earplugs.

To try and lower the noise, I tried to place the vacuum cleaner inside a closet and nearly drilled a hole in the lower right side of the closet door to route the vacuum hose through. The idea was to enclose the vacuum to minimize the noise.

So, instead of taking the cheap (possibly dumb) route, I opted for a “smarter” 3D printed solution. This design allows the attachment to hook under the door frame securely, without the need to modify the door permanently. This attachment allows for the door to open and close freely, making your workspace quieter without any compromise in functionality.

Since this is printed without support, the inside of the part has compartments / alleys openings that are between 4mm and 6mm wide. Because of that, I added a 4mm filter to the top of the nozzle openings. The nozzle at the op fits a 31mm hose. I printed this in .28 layer height - if you want to make the top slanted part smoother, you can always print in a .20 or .16, but the print time will be closer to 6 hours - I wanted to avoid that.

If you're dealing with a loud shop vac in your workspace, and you have a close nearby, consider printing this, thank me later!
