Print-In-Place, No Supports, Articulating Fidget Toy

All through the night, the doctor works to craft a thing that hulks and lurks with hands that crush and eyes that shine: his masterwork, the Franken-Spine!

This Franken-Spine model is composed of 2 separate pieces. The Franken-Spine Body and the Franken-Spine Snap-Flex Fidget.

This model is for personal use only. If you're interested in selling physical prints of this model, please subscribe to the Mimetics 3D Commercial Tier on Thangs.

Snap-Flex Collection: This articulated fidget toy integrates the Mimetics 3D "Snap-Flex" joint. This allows it to both move smoothly, mimicking the fluid motion of living creatures, AND stabilize in a firm pose, providing a premium fidgeting experience.

Each SNAP will resonate as a symphony of satisfaction to your ears, confirming your masterful manipulations.

Snap-Flex Instructions: To Lock: Push Body Segments together To Unlock: Pull Body Segments Apart

This Franken-Spine is the seventh creation in a series of Snap-Flex models by Mimetics 3D, and it's available for free for a limited time.

Tolerance: To accommodate different printer settings and filaments, I’m uploading 3 different tolerance levels for the Franken-Spine to ensure that you get the best fitting, most satisfying “SNAP” with each of your prints.

This is the Medium tolerance model. For the other tolerances, please check out the other versions of the model below:

Tight Tolerance Franken-Spine: https://than.gs/m/956746 Loose Tolerance Franken-Spine: https://than.gs/m/956752

Please try out each to see what works best for you, and let me know which version you prefer!

Other Models: The Franken-Spine Body included in this model also fits the Skele-Spine and Pumpkin-Spine found in the Grim Reaper and Headless Horseman models. Complete your collection for maximum spine-snapping pleasure:

Print Settings: 0.2mm Layer Height 3 Wall Loops 3 Top Shell Layers Brim Suggested No Supports, Print-In-Place at 100% scale Printing any smaller may disable the Snap-Flex joint.

Printing larger than 100% will make the snap louder AND harder to pop, so be sure to do a shorter test print to make sure it's not TOO hard to snap into place.

These tolerances are TIGHT and you'll likely have to snap each segment a few times before it's loose enough to snap/unsnap easily. I recommend you use regular PLA or PLA+. ABS might be even better, but I haven't tried it yet.

Silk PLA is a bit softer and may not click as nicely. I'd also be more concerned about silk PLA holding up to the wear and tear. If you print this in resin, please let me know how it turns out. I imagine you would need a more flexible/less stiff resin for it to work appropriately.

Footnote: Intelligence is knowing that Frankenstein was the doctor. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein was the monster. Charisma is not being a jerk about it.
