Hollow Mountains // Mt. Fuji Totem + Vase
byMake AnythingMount Fuji is an iconic dormant volcano in Japan, renowned for its symmetrical cone and snow-capped peak. This small totem was created using elevation data for an accurate replica of the famous landmark. I've also created a vase version that can hold a small amount of water for a short term cut-plant display (and, of course, dried plants or whetever else you wish to adorn it with).
Printing Guide
This model prints on its side to accomplish the delicate hollow structure without requiring support material on well tuned printers. I would suggest a generous brim (5-12mm) to help with bed adhesion. To prevent warping nozzle temperature and extrusion multiplier should not be excessively high. Smaller layer heights will help with the overhangs and overall detail.
The photographed model was sliced using 'Fuzzy Skin' mode with 'Fuzzy skin point distance' and 'Fuzzy skin thickness' both set to 0.2 mm and printed at .12 mm layer height.
Printed using Fillamentum Extrafill PLA Traffic White also available at 3DJake and MatterHackers. Printer was the QIDI Q1-Pro 3D Printer*
Topographical model was generated using DEM Net Elevation API using OpenTopography AW3D30 data.
