Upgrade your software-defined radio (SDR) experience with this 3D printable case designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 4 and RTL-SDR. Whether you're an enthusiast setting up a home station or in the field requiring rapid deployment, this project provides the perfect solution for your SDR needs.

Key Features:

  • Versatile Compatibility: The main frame of the case includes a rail mount above the N-Connector to SMA adapter, simplifying the incorporation of various SDR models with the same form factor as the RTL-SDR, such as Nooelec or Airspy. This adaptability ensures that your case can evolve alongside your equipment.

  • RFI Protection: Increased Radio frequency interference (RFI) protection is achieved through two 3D printable parts covered in copper foil. The protection covering the SDR was first modeled as sheet metal in CAD allowing you to swap out this part with 2mm thick metal and still have the correct bend radius around the corners

  • All-Weather Durability: This case is designed to withstand the elements, making it suitable for deployment in many weather conditions. Whether you're facing rain, snow, or intense sunlight, your equipment remains protected, ensuring consistent performance in diverse environments.

  • Enhanced Connectivity: Boost your connectivity options with an external WiFi antenna mount, extending your WiFi range or enable a hotspot with a USB WiFi adapter. Stay connected and operational even in remote locations.

  • Ventilation Options: Choose between multiple ventilation options to suit your specific requirements. Whether you need optimal airflow or a sealed enclosure, this case offers flexibility to adapt to your environmental needs.

  • Rapid Mounting System: The design of the rail system utilized for the SDR is also utilized to serve as a mounting system for the entire case. The included parts provide rapid mounting on surfaces, 1.5" poles, or 2" poles.

This is version 1.0 of the case focusing on portability, ease of set up and take down. Version 2.0 will focus on increased weather proofing for extremely severe weather and long duration outdoors.
