_Adam Maitland is a fictional character from the 1988 fantasy-comedy film "Beetlejuice". Barbara and Adam are a recently deceased couple who find themselves stuck in their own home as ghosts after a car accident. They are unable to leave their house, which is now inhabited by the Deetz family, who are unaware of their presence. _
