This is my entry for the #HalloWearable or #HalloWearables contest with Zack Freedman SoundMask v0.16 What is an intergalactic sound being supposed to do when people won’t stop breathing on them? Well the only thing they can do: build a better mask! But better filtration isn’t enough! They won’t stop running their mouths! We must drown them out, beat them with their own game! Volume! DECIBELS! Enter the SoundMask v0.16 a half-faceplate respirator equipped to pump out upto a whopping 40W of sheer inexhaustible AUDIBLE BLISS!

Please note: the SoundMask v0.16 is not a functional respirator and should not be used in any context where such a device is deemed necessarily, local laws might govern the use of amplified music, in order to actually use the 40W advertised above one must follow the experimental guide found at the bottom of this document. The respirator has a potential to restrict breathing and your own judgement should be used before assembling or wearing the SoundMask in any context. BOM ~136g of PLA filament I used MatterHackers build series in white because it was what I had on hand 8 - M3x8 socket head screws https://www.amazon.com/Socket-Screws-Machine-Thread-Quantity/dp/B07NTG92SL 8 - M3x5x4 brass heat set inserts https://www.amazon.com/outstanding-M3x5x4-Knurled-Threaded-Embedment/dp/B095WNHN5H 2 - Dayton Audio PS95-8 speaker drivers https://www.amazon.com/Dayton-Audio-PS95-8-Source-Driver/dp/B00Q3M9852 https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-PS95-8-3-1-2-Point-Source-Full-Range-Driver-8-295-349 See notes on driver selection for guidance on selecting different drivers 1 - 3M 6200 half faceplate respirator https://www.amazon.com/3M-Respirator-6200-Respiratory-Protection/dp/B007JZ1N00 The interface might be compatible with other 3M respirators but this is all I have and all I tested it on, it’s modeled on a 3M 60926 cartridge so anything that is compatible with that cartridge should work. 1 - 3.5mm male plug to bare wire https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0977CLRVR/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1 ~24ft - 16 AWG wire https://www.amazon.com/TYUMEN-Electrical-Extension-Flexible-Lighting/dp/B07SG23DT1/ You can probably get away with a thinner gauge but this is what I had around. Heat shrink tubing of various sizes https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WWWPR2X Printing Orientation: The interface for the respirator and the ridges should be towards the bed, this should be the default orientation in the STL Base layer height: 0.2mm Line width: 0.4 Wall thickness: 1.2 Top/Bottom thickness: 0.8 Infill density: 15% Infill pattern: cubic Supports: no Use adaptive layers: true
