This project emerged as a Christmas gift.
It turns out that my mother-in-law loves the Buddhist theme, everything related to meditation, yoga... and my sister-in-law had a super cool idea to gift her hanging chakras. Honestly, it was the first time I heard about chakras and their meaning, so for those of you in the same boat as I was, here's some information about them:
Chakra (cakra in Sanskrit) means "wheel" and refers to energy points in your body. They are thought to be spinning disks of energy that should stay "open" and aligned, as they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. Here's a page where they explain it in more detail: https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness-exercise/7-chakras
Well, once we had the idea in mind of what we wanted to create (more or less), it was time to bring it to life. We brainstormed, searched for inspiration on Pinterest (bless Pinterest), and finally decided to create what we're sharing below.
There are a total of 9 prints corresponding to the 7 chakras and 2 pieces for the composition's start and end (the one's we referred as glow ones). The colors we chose for the chakras are the most popular, but you can find versions where 1 is fuchsia, 2 is purple, and 3 is blue instead of 1 - purple, 2 - dark blue, and 3 - light blue, but you can print them in the color you prefer.
The designs for all pieces have been made from a single continuous line so that they can be printed in one piece and shouldn't pose any major challenges. To connect each piece, we used the thread and beads from the following link: https://www.amazon.es/dp/B0BXH2J8GT?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details, but we recommend not using the thread that comes with it because it's a pain to tie and ensure the knot doesn't come undone when hanging the entire composition.
We also provide a mini-video about the assembly process: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TUalS2vy_UQ
The gift was a success, really, because it has the added value of being designed specifically for someone. A 10 for my sister-in-law for the great idea! I've earned some brownie points with my mother-in-law, haha.
