As some of you CR-Z owners know, installing an aftermarket stereo into a CR-Z EX model with Navigation will leave you without an Air Bag indicator light and Hazard Light switch / button. The aftermarket dash kit by Metra was designed around base models (and for some reason Honda decided to use a different mounting design???????)
Anyways, I stumbled across a fix for the hazard switch (more on this later) but I didn't find one for the airbag indicator so I decided to start working on one.
It's pretty crude and not the cleanest design. But this is just my first mockup and my test print did work decently successfully so I wanted to share for others to collaborate on. I do plan on continuing on the design but incase somebody just wanted a quick fix, I've uploaded v1 for you to use.
I haven't tested it for longevity but my test fit on my desk does work.
It's 2 pieces. I'll try to post pictures of how to install it but it should be pretty straight forward.
You'll need to buy 2 extra screws. The same as the ones you pulled out for the hazard switch (but maybe a tiny bit thicker) would help.
The STL I uploaded includes both parts.
I printed it with PETG because that's what was loaded into my machine. But seeing that this isn't structural you might be able to get away with using PLA even in the heat.
I did 3 walls, 25% infill.
I recommend these settings for your first test and if it works out for you, maybe consider 4 walls and 50% infill just for the added strength,
I'll update on my long term when the weather starts to get hot.
Hazard switch: I found online a replacement assembly for the switch, and it does work, but it turns the switch side ways and it seems to stick out oddly more than before, and requires the use of supports which my machine was struggling with. Looking at the back of the Metra dash kit, I see there's a lot of room. I'm going to design a fix for the Hazard switch from scratch based off the OEM one. Keep an eye out for that!
