Create your BaBo organizer! A system created to store them all!

Description: This is the BaBo duo AMS drawer stacker. I designed this model to be able to stack several Bambu Lab AMS in a space-efficient manner.

For this purpose, the AMS are stored in a kind of drawer and can be pulled forward if necessary, while they are rotated so that the spools can be easily removed.

The AMS stakers can then be placed next to the printer or on the floor. Alternatively, there is also an option for mounting under a shelf or table. I also recommend attaching at least one staker to a wall to prevent it from tipping over. There are attachments with different lengths for this purpose.

There is also an optional solution to fix the lid of the AMS during the spool change.

BaBo organizer is a stationary, very flexible system to store your tools, spare parts and even printing plates. The design is based on the iconic look of the Bambu Lab X1 printer. The entire system uses only 1 type of screw, M3x8 countersunk screws.

Update: (06/09/24)

  • Connections of AMS frame changed for simplified assembly
  • Side parts of the AMS frames changed to fit all versions.

(28/06/24)

  • added Version 2 (Compatibility: V2 stacker can be stacked on V1 stacker. But parts of V2 cannot be swapped with V1 parts.)
  • Splitted the side rails in two parts to make the assembly and maintaining easier, by make it possible to put in/out the AMS at any time.
  • Increased stability through reinforcement in the back area.
  • Various small changes for better assembly and functionality.

(19/07/24)

  • rear x member revised to simplify the guidance of the PTFE tube, making printing and assembly easier.
  • wall support mount revised to make it more stable.
  • added another smaller PTFE tube connector holder version

(26/07/24)

  • AMS lid holder without magnets added

Printing: I recommend after printing the first parts to try to assemble them to check the tolerances for the printer. You can use the XY Contour Compensation in Bambu Studio to adjust the tolerances if you have problems to assemble the parts. If you plan to wall mount the Stacker, then you don't need the X-support in the back. The 3MF include a plate that doesn't have this parts. Read the description of the plates.

Layer height: 0.2 Supports: Yes Brim: No Material: PETG (recommended), ABS, PLA (do not use Silk or Matte PLA)

Assembly:

Please make sure that everything is fastened properly so that no one gets hurt or anything breaks. Approximately 8kg of weight will impact the construction per AMS stack.

Required parts per AMS stacker drawer

  • printed parts
  • 34 x M3x8 countersunk screws (ISO 10642)
  • 4 x 608 ball bearing (DIN 625)

top mount (optional)

  • printed parts
  • 4 x M3x8 countersunk screws (ISO 10642)

wall mount (optional)

  • printed parts
  • 4 x M3x8 countersunk screws (ISO 10642)

AMS lid magnet holder (optional)

  • printed parts (PETG)

PTFE guide (optional)

  • printed parts
  • 1 x M3x8 countersunk screws (ISO 10642)

Assemble the left and right parts together. The left and right parts can then be screwed together in the middle. The side guide lock parts don't have to be assembled in this step but it helps if you screw them in to prepare the threads for an easier assembly later. If you plan to wall mount the Stacker, then you don't need the X-support in the back.

_Repeat the previous steps for additional AMS stackers. _

To connect the AMS stacks, the vertical spacers can be pushed into the side guides of the AMS stacks above and screwed together.

From this point on, it must be decided whether the AMS stacker will be mounted with the top or wall mount or should stand on a table or floor.

If you decide to use the stackers on your table, there must be space below the stacker so that the lowest AMS can be pulled out. [BaBo duo] modules can be installed for this purpose. The height of the modules should be at least 120mm.

Compatible module with height:

+60mm (free) [BaBo duo] mono drawer module 30

+90mm (paid) [BaBo duo] mono drawer module 60

+40mm (free) [BaBo duo] drawer modul 30

+70mm (free) [BaBo duo] drawer modul 60

+100mm (paid) [BaBo duo] drawer module 90

+40mm (paid) 3plates [BaBo duo] plate module

+60mm (paid) 5plates [BaBo duo] plate module

+64mm (paid) [BaBo duo] front lid module 60

At least attach the upper AMS to a wall or something else to avoid tipping over.

The top mount can be used when mounting under a table or shelf. In addition, the AMS stackers can be attached to a wall on the back.

You can mount the AMS stacker to the wall to save space. Tip: Using the top mount you can make you a shelf on the top.

Last step:

Put the frame for the AMS together. Then insert the bearings to the sides and fix them with the screws. Screw the AMS to the frame from below. Be careful not to overtighten the screws. The frame assembly with the AMS is then inserted into the side guides. There are recesses in the front of the side guides for this.

Optional holder for the AMS lid. There is a version that allows an opening angle of up to 90° and one for the AMS top mount version that allows up to 45°

Stick double-sided tape on the areas shown in the picture.

Stick on the part that belongs to the AMS housing first, as far outside as possible to avoid collisions with the AMS stacker. Insert the AMS lid part into the clip mechanism. Open the AMS lid and press the lid against the double-sided adhesive tape. Repeat the whole thing on the other side.

Wiring and connecting the PTFE tubes If you plan to connect multiple AMS units together, you will need to purchase the AMS Hub.

Connect the top or bottom AMS closest to the printer with the 6pin 1500mm cable included in the AMS hub. All other AMS's can then be connected to each other using the 6pin 510mm cable included in the AMS.

Then connect each AMS to the AMS hub with a sufficiently long PTFE tube. Make sure that the AMS can be pulled out.

You can mount the PTFE guide on the back of the stacker to make guiding easier. This can use the Bambulab PTFE Connector to make installing and removing the AMS easier or can simply be used as a guide.
