Ancient Pokeball from Pokemon Legends: Arceus Version 1

Model Description

There are 2 completely different versions of this Pokeball design. Both fully snap together and both have to the ability to be used wide open or with storage inserts. Each design has its own set of tradeoffs, but in my opinion Version 2 (the newest version) is better for strength, ease of printing, and ease of assembly.

Version 1: This was the first version I uploaded, and while I am still very proud of it I became painfully aware of its flaws after printing a few hundred of them. One thing I disliked about the design was that it wasn't support free. Other big issues with this version is that it can become very difficult to snap together if your settings aren't juuuuust right, specifically Z height and Extrusion/Flow. It also doesn't have the strongest hinge, or the strongest locking assembly (the latch and front notch). Its a great model, but when producing them in mass it can become a pain to print and assemble. A lot of the componenets aren't replaceable if something breaks either.

STL List:

Version 1 STL's:

  • Ball Top (2 Clearance Options)
  • Heavy Ball Top
  • Heavy Ball SD Covers
  • Ball Bottom (2 Clearance Options)
  • Ring Top
  • Ring Bottom
  • Hinge
  • Steam Valve (2 Different Clearance Options)
  • Small Notch
  • Nintendo Switch Game Inserts (2 Pieces, 16 Games)
  • Jewelry Inserts (3 Pieces)
  • Nintendo DS Game Inserts (2 Pieces)

Support:

  • Version 1 will need supports on the rings where the cutout is for the hinge.

Assembly:

**Troubleshooting: **If you are having pieces fuse together (mainly the hinge), you are likely over extruding. I would suggest calibrating your eSteps/Flow and try again. You will also need to verify that your bridging is decent, otherwise that could also cause the hinge to fuse.
