Decorative Christmas Tree With Ornaments and Train - Support Free

This Christmas tree is based off of the Step 2 "My First Christmas Tree" for toddlers. This is meant to be more of a decoration than a toy, but it still includes a nice little train and it has the added advantages of customizability with 3 different tree toppers. And you can configure the trains however you like, print extra ornaments and so on. The ornaments can be used as real ornaments for your actual Christmas tree if you so desire. The train could be scaled up and used as more of a functional toy.

Every piece of this project is designed for support free printing, and I printed it all with no supports. If you like you might want to add some support at about 80 degrees for the large holes in the Tree. They might come out a tiny bit smoother. Mine came out fine, but I had a few loose strands to clean up. You may want to use a raft or brim for the ornaments if you don't have amazing bed adhesion.

If you decide to scale the models: This design is built with a 235x235x270mm build area in mind. If you decide to scale down, you will want to scale everything to the same percentage. The trains are about as small as they can be while allowing the linkages to work. They are also about as big as what can fit on the track that goes around the tree by default.

For me the snaps on the train links and on the ornament eyelets were snug. You might need to scale slightly if you don't have a great fit. They should go in with a little snap, but it should not take a whole lot of effort to get them in.

For me this ended up being a fairly involved project. I used around 700grams of filament altogether, including some extra ornaments and tree toppers.

This is meant as more of a decoration than a toy! If you intend to give this to a small child, please be aware of the small pieces and maybe leave those out. Use your best judgement.

Have fun printing and Enjoy!
