MALLA | Woven Wall Lamp E14/26/27

MALLA | Woven Wall Lamp E14/26/27

Weave patterns print so fast and are so gorgeous. I couldn't fight the urge to make a wall lamp with it.

The lamp comes in 2 versions:

  • Large: diameter Ø248mm
  • Small: diameter Ø209mm.

The lampshade gets its shape straight from my MALLA woven bowl and is available in two configurations:

  • a deeper one which has 3 bulges (total lamp depth: 120mm)
  • a shallower shade which has 2 bulges (total lamp depth: 95mm)

The base plate can accomodate either E14 or E26/27 light bulb sockets. There's a print file for each. You can get the power cords from Amazon here:
 For Europe: E27 cord:  https://amzn.to/3OVrZjK
 E14 cord:  https://amzn.to/3TchBqs

For the US: E26/E27 cord:  https://amzn.to/3U0Xyvy

The woven pattern (printed in PETG) diffuses the light beautifully. It can be printed by any printer with a classic 0.4mm nozzle.

Happy printing!

DIMENSIONS (Large "triple" version) | Ø 248 mm, D 120 mm

DIMENSIONS (Large "double" version) | Ø 248 mm, H 95 mm

DIMENSIONS (Small "triple" version) | Ø 209 mm, D 120 mm

DIMENSIONS (Large "double" version) | Ø 209 mm, H 95 mm

3D PRINT SETTINGS: All STL files are already oriented properly. You need to print 2 parts:

  • a base plate, with 2 versions available (for E14 or for E26/27 sockets)
  • a shade, with 2 versions available (3 bulges or 2 bulges)

THE SHADE: To achieve the woven pattern of the front face of the shade, you have to turn off the top and bottom layers (set to 0), and pick an infill pattern of your choice (gyroid pattern on the pictures) with about 30% infill. On top of that, for 0.4mm nozzles, push the "infill line width" to 0.6mm to make the weave of the front face nice and strong. The items in the pictures were printed with a 0.4mm nozzle.

To ensure a super clean and sticky first layer, push the "initial layer line width" to 0.8mm.

Layer height: 0.3 mm (no less, no more) Line width: 0.5mm (for a 0.4mm nozzle, so as to extrude a bit more material and achieve a cleaner weave) First layer line width: 0.8mm Wall line count (perimeter walls): 2 Top layers: 0 Bottom layers: 0 Infill: 30% to 40% (I printed with 25% but it's a bit too see-through. 30% infill should be nicer) Infill pattern: gyroid Infill line width: 0.6mm Infill-wall overlap: 50% Build adhesion type: None Supports: None

For Bambu Lab users, make sure to:

  • turn OFF "slow down for overhangs"
  • set "wall generator" to "arachne".

BASE PLATE & BRACKET: No particular tricks for these two parts. I used 0.28mm per layer and 20% infill.

Happy printing!
