Christmas Tree Topple I designed a game for Christmas this year and it’s a blast! It’s a balance game, the point of the game is to remove a tree from a game board with a candy cane without knocking it all over.
Print instructions To play the game you will need to print the following:
- 3 Game boards
- 27 Trees Total – 9 per color, 3 colors total
- 2 Candy Canes
- 1 Dice with colored inserts
This is the minimum parts required for two person gameplay. For three or four person games, I would suggest a height of 5 game boards and 45 trees.
I printed my trees in vase mode but in hindsight I’m not sure if it’s the best way to do it because you can only print one tree at a time. As a result, I had to go pretty slow because of heat so the overhangs didn’t curl. If you do print in vase mode consider a .8mm line width, otherwise they can be hollow with at least two .45mm outside shells.
The colored inserts are printed separately from the die and glued in afterwards.
Game Play The goal of the game is to remove a tree with a candy cane without tipping over the game boards. Nine trees are randomly put on each game board three levels high. The first player rolls the dice and removes the same color tree that the dice lands on with the candy cane. A tree can be removed from any level board on any turn. The turn is over after the player successfully removes a tree, then it’s the second players turn. This goes back and forth until the game boards are tipped over. Whomever causes the game to tip loses, and the other player wins. Now... don't be like my kids, no fighting….
If you have suggestions or rules that should be added for better game play please let me know.
