I found myself captivated by the idea of capturing motion in stillness. I imagined a tablecloth, gently falling through the air, freezing just as it settled over the shapes beneath it—a moment suspended. That vision lingered, and soon, it took shape in what I came to call the Anti-Gravity Tablecloth Series: a collection of unique pieces that appear to defy gravity itself.

The Anti-Gravity Tablecloth Series is a collection of four models designed to resemble fabric caught in a moment of reverse gravity, creating a striking visual effect. Each piece in this series combines art and functionality, with shapes that appear as if a tablecloth has been elegantly draped over invisible forms, frozen mid-motion. The smooth, fabric-like texture of the material brings a soft, dynamic quality to these containers, making them stand out as both functional objects and pieces of art.

Get creative with your models by flipping them upside down to transform them into a stunning display shelf! Use a heat gun or torch to warm up the tips, then flatten the edges for a sleek, realistic look that makes it appear as though the model is perfectly balanced on its edges.

Recommend enable "make overhangs printable" setting in orca/bambu slicer.

The series includes:

1. Two Bowls: - Deep Bowl: This bowl features a circular base with tall, flowing edges that curve upward, creating a deep, voluminous shape suitable for storing larger items or serving as a decorative centrepiece. - Shallow Bowl: With a wide, circular base and lower profile, this bowl has gentle folds along the edges, perfect for displaying small items like candy or jewelry.

2. Two Cups:

  • Square-Base Cup: A unique cup with a square base and tall, scalloped edges, this piece is ideal for holding pens, makeup brushes, or other slender items. Its angular base adds a contemporary touch.
  • Circular-Base Cup: Featuring a round base and softly curved edges, this cup has a flowing, organic shape that is both functional and visually intriguing, suitable for a variety of uses. Pat

The Story behind this series:

My first creation was the Deep Bowl. I shaped it with a broad, circular base and high, flowing edges that seem to rise up in a billowing motion. It was as if the cloth had wrapped itself around an invisible form, holding onto the movement of descent. This deep bowl became a perfect vessel for larger items and an eye-catching centrepiece, with a dramatic, sculptural presence that hinted at a story behind it.

Next came the Shallow Bowl. This one had a gentler shape, with a lower profile and softly curling edges around a wide, circular base. It was as if the fabric had settled more delicately, forming a dish that cradled whatever was placed inside—candies, trinkets, keys, or even just the emptiness of its form. The shallow bowl became a symbol of subtle elegance, capturing the cloth’s gentle folds in a way that felt organic and refined.

I then moved on to the Square-Base Cup, envisioning a container with a more angular, structured base. Tall and slender, it looked as though a piece of cloth had fallen perfectly over a square pedestal, forming ripples along its edges. This piece became a haven for slender objects—pens, brushes, tools—transforming practical items into part of the art.

Finally, I created the Circular-Base Cup. With a round base and softly flowing sides, it was the most graceful of them all—a celebration of curves and fluidity. This piece, with its gentle, wave-like edges, was perfect for holding smaller essentials and added a subtle elegance to any space.

And so, the Anti-Gravity Tablecloth Series was complete, each piece available in four different sizes, each telling its own story. Together, they captured my vision: a moment frozen in time, the soft motion of fabric defying gravity. Now, these pieces bring that moment into the world, blending art and function in a way that feels like magic.
