Model originally uploaded to Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2384586.

This is my take on e3d v6 heater block sleeve/sock. My very first attempt with casting silicone and very first 3d printed mould that I've designed by myself. I do realize that there are a few existing models on Thingiverse, I decided to make one myself as a challenge for both casting silicone and designing a mould in Fusion 360. It is also much cheaper (in the long run) and much more interesting to create your own silicone sleeves.

It is compatible with the older version of genuine e3d v6 or majority of the e3d v6 clone commonly sold on Aliexpress.

I will occasionally share my creations and 3d printing reviews on my youtube channel if you are interested in my contents/creations you are welcome to subscribe to my channel.

Pouring instructions:

  1. clean up and post-process your the 3d printed parts a little with sandpaper or file.
  2. use a rubber band to secure the side wall. There are a top and bottom side, make sure the wall is oriented correctly.
  3. prepare your high-temperature resistance silicone accordingly.
  4. OPTIONAL: degas the silicone (if you have a vacuum chamber)
  5. pour the silicone until about 1/3 full of the mould.
  6. insert the dummy 3d printed heater block
  7. push the dummy 3d printed heater block into the proper slots
  8. pour some more silicone until the block is completely covered.
  9. close the lid firmly
  10. wait for it to dry.
