Digital file for 3D printing your very own Duff Beer Carrier. Oh Yeah!
My tests were printed at 0.2mm layer height (initial layer height of 0.3mm). Skirt. No Supports. 20% infill (only applies to the logo/text, as the walls are only 2mm thick).
Requires a 150mm x 150mm x 200mm build plate.
Print as five separate pieces... bottom w/ handle, front, back, left and right.
Bottom w/ handle Print as black or red. (black provides a nice contrast, and make some of the dovetail joinery stand out). I used PLA+ for this part, for added strength.
Left, right, front and back Start with red At layer 11 change to white At layer 14 change to black
Separate Logo Start with red At layer 3 change to white At layer 5 change to black
Layer changes can be accomplished either manually (yuck), or by utilizing slicer plugins or post processing scripts. For Cura I use the "Filament Change" Post Processing script. The pieces interconnect with dovetails. E6000 Glue is suggested. Depending on your printer's tolerances, you may need to slightly file down the dovetail points.
The four pack beer carrier is sized to accommodate 62mm diameter glass bottle as well as 66mm diameter aluminum cans.
"Can't Get Enough of That Wonderful Duff"
v0.1 The top handle corners are 90 degrees. Sized to only fit glass bottles. v0.3 The top handle corners are now rounded. Sized to fit both glass bottles and aluminum cans. (but a little too big) v0.5 Resized, glass bottles and aluminum cans fit (but 5mm smaller, so they are less loose). Added a 6 pack version (increased the height of the handle for the 6 pack version). Also added a version that prints as single piece (rather than assemble with dovetails, but the Duff logo must be printed separately and than glued on). Note: Left and Right are the same for 4 pack and 6 pack (if using the same version number). Same with logo, it can be used on all four sides of the merged piece.
At 0.2mm resolution it took me about 22 hours to print all the pieces of the 4 pack. Assembled size is 150mm x 150mm x 200mm
