I love what Zach Freedman has started with Gridfinity. These are sister versions of the remixed baseplates I created. These versions use standard 6x2mm magnets, so you can continue using what you're familiar with if you don't want to switch over to strike plates on the bases.
Minimal base plates: These minimal base plates based upon the work of RIP_Plo-Koon (https://www.printables.com/model/250550). These are reasonably efficient on the filament side in my opinion. These also match my risers that allow you to create tiers of tools and supplies with magnetic capability!
Interlocking base plates: This useful addition builds upon the ideas of Kyle Warren (https://www.printables.com/model/300603). I've reduced the number of holes to one per outside edge slot; however, I've also added a pressure fit recess for a standard M3 nut. The length is optimized for M3x8 bolts, so there isn't too much overhanging on either side with commonly available bolts. They're a little beefier, but still quite reasonable from a filament consumption perspective. They also raise the the container exactly 1base-u in height (7mm), so they fit the riser paradigm perfectly.
You can still use M3 screws or bolts in the corners as well thanks to a little extra chamfer action.
As usual...
- No brims or support required!
- Use any filament with an 0.6mm or smaller nozzle.
- Wider plates can curl, so maximize your bed adhesion if you're going big!
- All storage blocks are compatible with all baseplates!
