Simple Carabiner Clips - Style them your way!

If you need a simple but effective carabiner clip/hook to attach a flashlight or something else to your backpack before a trip, or need a stylized and useful keychain - or something else - here you go :-) After a week of prototyping and testing, this is the result. Hope you like it! For styling and print tips - read below! PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE OF COURSE NOT FOR CLIMBING OR OTHER HEAVY LIFTING! If you like my models - please follow me on Printables for more free models to come!

Need bigger or thicker versions? - try scaling in the slicer or please let me know in the comments!

Overview

The carabiner model comes in 2 types - and in multiple sizes!

  • The number in the file name is the length of the carabiner in mm.
  • The Thick version types, is wider, and suitable for customization (fx. exposed infill - more below!) Remember that all of the files can be scaled in 1 or more dimensions in the slicer for even more customization!

Print instructions

For all carabiners i recommend trying with your filament and different sizes and thicknesses.

  • Speed on first layer: 50% (or less) (To ensure good bed adhesion and perfect fit)
  • Supports: NO supports - that would prevent you from spinning the faces afterwards.

To style them a little I suggest you use the Thick versions!, and to show the infill, do the following (in Prusaslicer):

  • Layers and perimeters → Horizontal shells → Solid layers → Top: 0 + Bottom: 0 Infill example (but experiment and find your personal style to look awesome on your backpack!!):
  • Infill → Fill density: 25%
  • Infill → Fill pattern: Honeycomb Alternative: hide top/bottom layers as shown above - and hide the infill too! This create a super stylized look - but please be aware that the carabiner becomes super weak! Maybe increase the perimeters to your liking to make it a little stronger..

Happy printing!
