As I explored this character for this project, I came to discover how fascinating these critters are. They are marsupials, with a blue-grey-silver silky fur. Like kangaroos, but their pouches are upside down! That way they don't fill them with dirt as they dig. They are in the Bandicoot family and burrow large spiral-shaped burrows up to 3 meters long. 

As they dig, they actually help the environment with irrigation, seed collection and collecting debris. They are considered  'ecosystem engineers'.

What I also find interesting is how big their front paws are. Clearly for digging, but they move up to 1.5 tonnes of earth per kilogram of body weight per year!

Then their ears. Bilby's ears are actually bare. It helps them stay cool in the hot Australian heat. That's why their ears are so large, it's their heat exchange.

Inspired by the Easter Bilby Project, I've designed a 3D printable bilby game piece that's perfect for your fav board games. It's a small way we can spotlight the plight of Australia's endangered bilbies, right from our game tables.

**Why bilbies?** They're adorable, in danger, and as an Aussie, this cause hits close to home. Plus, these pieces are:

Super easy to print (no supports needed!)
Perfect with standard settings (0.2 layer height, but tweak as you like!)
And most importantly, they're a blast to use!

**What games can I use these in?** this piece was specifically designed to fit into the "Trouble" game board, but they will make great tokens and proxies for almost any board game as they are free standing. so snakes and ladders, monopoly or even TTRPGs.
