Mount to be able to mount a Chimera on a Vertex K8400. The trick in this mount was to keep the vertical distance between the Chimera and the Nimbles as small as possible, as the user wanted to print flexible materials. This results in the Y shaft running through the mount itself. After printing the base, it is a good idea to run a 9mm drill through the hole to clean it up and make sure the 8 mm shaft has clearance.

As a consequence of the positioning, the Chimera is pushed forward by 20 mm. This will cost Y travel.

The Nimble mount bolts to the top of the Chimera, with just two screws, M3x14. The Bottom bracket bolts to the Chimera on the back, using 2 M3x10 screws. This means that this mount can only be used if your height adjustment screws are on the side of the Chimera heat sink. Older models have the screws in the big face opposite the fan. The two parts are connected on top using the Connector plate.

There are two tie wrap slots on the corners so you can tie the heater wires and route them neatly up to the drive cables.

The STL models are checked and optimised. The parts that need a different orientation to print properly are rotated to the preferred printing position.

The Nimble Extruder

With an installed weight of less than 27 grams on your carriage/effector the Zesty Nimble is the smallest and lightest extruder you can buy, it has ample torque and can be mounted in multiple orientations.

The Nimble is available from Zesty Technology.
