With a sloped, thatched roof reaching maybe a yard in height it was no surprise that the rest of the building was hidden underground. Right after the entrance, there was a ladder leading into the dark cool cellar. It was very clever, in the warm climate of the steppes, to utilize isolating properties of the earth itself to protect the harvest from perishing in heat and sun. Our adventurers quickly found out that the building was not only perfect as a food storage but also served as a temporary holding place for uninvited guests. Which was not optimal but, given the first impression they made, quite understandable.
