HoloBox: The Magic of Holograms for Everyone!

HoloBox: The Magic of Holograms for Everyone!

When we think of magic, we often picture spells and mysterious potions. But magic can be something much more everyday and accessible. Magic is in unexpected moments, in small but extraordinary details, like a sudden smile, the scent of fresh rain, or the dance of lights on a wall. What if I told you there's a way to capture a bit of this everyday magic and bring it into your home?

Today, I'm here to introduce HoloBox, a free model that transforms a simple box into a magical portal of holograms. Imagine inserting a transparent plate into this box and placing your cellphone on top with a full-screen video playing. Suddenly, right before your eyes, fish, butterflies, and fireworks seem to float in the air. And the beauty of it is that with HoloBox, the magic becomes interactive. You can pass your hand behind the display, almost touching the moving holograms.

I designed HoloBox with my smartphone in mind
(Screen size 150x64mm), but its dimensions are universal enough to fit most devices. The HoloBox model is fully customizable: you can modify, enhance, and adapt it as needed. And don't worry about the materials – just a bit of black PLA is enough to easily print it.

And why stop there? If you like the idea and want to try it out right away, I've prepared a YouTube playlist with a selection of perfect videos to test your HoloBox. It's a way to gift yourself moments of relaxation and awe, alone or with your loved ones. Kids will be thrilled!

You don't have to be a wizard or an engineer to create something incredible. Sometimes, magic is in the simplicity of an idea and the joy of sharing it. HoloBox is not just a tech gadget; it's an invitation to experience the beauty of small things and bring a touch of magic into everyday life.

This project is published as Public Domain, so you can adapt it, create a new one, modify it, without worries.

Why print HoloBox? This hologram box isn't my exclusive idea; indeed, there are probably hundreds of similar projects online, made with scraps, cardboard boxes, and glue... I liked the idea of creating a definitive object, one that could be added to my decor, on a shelf or nightstand, to treat myself to fascinating moments and show it off to my guests, so I thought of a model that anyone could print and that would last over time. I hope you enjoy HoloBox as much as I enjoyed creating and using it.
