Nunchucks / Nunchaku A traditional East-Asian martial arts weapon consisting of two sticks (traditionally made of wood), connected to each other at their ends by a short chain or a rope.

The nunchaku is most widely used in Southern Chinese Kung fu, Okinawan Kobudo, and karate. It is intended to be a training weapon, since practicing with it can improves reflexes and posture. Modern nunchaku may be made of metal, plastic, or fiberglass instead of the traditional wood. Toy versions and replicas not intended to be used as weapons may be made of foam or plastic. Possession of this weapon is illegal in some countries, except for use in professional martial arts schools.


Legality PRINT AT YOUR OWN RISK Know your local laws! Nunchucks are considered an offensive weapon in some regions. These are a toy / prop but they can still cause harm and therefore may be construed as a weapon.


PRINTING:

  • Print the hardware solid. Using 8 shells/walls will create solid hardware regardless of infill % settings. Total filament is only ~23 grams for hardware!
  • Hardware should be made from PLA+ or PETG at a minimum. ABS, ASA, or similar tough material recommended for longer term use & abuse.
  • For testing, sticks were printed with 3 walls, ✔ alternate extra wall, 18% rectilinear infill, from PLA+ and PETG+
