Once the Pythagoras Cup (Greedy Cup) is filled beyond its limit, all of the contained liquid will inevitably spill out the bottom of the cup. The mechanism behind the magic is a called a syphon. A syphon is formed in the Pythagoras Cup when the liquid begins to fall down the internal tube (see image of section view) causing the air pressure behind the falling water to be less than atmospheric pressure. Since the air pressure in the tube is less than atmospheric pressure, atmospheric pressure pushes the entirety of the liquid out the bottom of the cup. This version of the Pythagoras Cup is perfect for magic shows and science demonstrations. For a more complete explanation behind the science of the Pythagorean Siphon, watch "The Pythagorean Siphon Inside Your Washing Machine" on YouTube by Steve Mould (link below). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg8KQfaT9xY
