Filter, Shmilter

The Charcoal Filter in the Bambu X1 Carbon is a poor design for materials that actually need charcoal filtration. As such I installed a Bento Box in-chamber Air Filter. With that done, my original “Chamber Temperature Regulation Fan” served no more purpose. So I removed it entirely and wired my Bento Box to the original fan wiring. Now the machine has vent holes that served no purpose. These printed parts use 3M VHB tape to mount and seal off the original Filter Vent, as well as that side of the electronics box. (Place VHB Tape where the Red marks are on the rendering.)

I also recommend my “Electronics Box Block-Offs” to help improve chamber temperatures: https://than.gs/m/995214 Use in conjunction with my “Fresh Air Fan Mount” to draw in fresh air to the electronics from the rear panel: https://than.gs/m/991489

Installation:

  • Remove Rear Panel
  • Remove Original Filter Housing
  • Apply VHB Tape to the “Feet” on the Large Seal
  • Stick Seal to plastic “Back” panel of the Printer Chamber.
  • Reinstall Rear Panel.
  • Apply VHB Tape to Inside Vent Seal (Recessed & Raised Areas, see Render)
  • Pressed firmly down against the filter housing & the right side crossmember.
  • Check for clearance to the toolhead as it gets quite close to this seal at the back corner.
NOTE: I have not long term tested these. So far they have increased my Chamber temperatures by 1-2C, but I cannot promise there will not be some long term issue from using them. Use At Your Own Risk!
