DIY: This is a hand crank driven desktop pencil carousel which is designed to store 36 pencils, it was created for PDO's back to school 3D modelling challenge. I have made a few of the parts transparent in the assembly file to make to make it easy to see the internal mechanisms. The geometry of the base of the carousel raises the pencils upon turning the crank in one direction. When turning the crank in the other direction, it activates the sharpening element in the middle. A regular size Staedtler "metal wedge-style sharpener" should slide into the the top of the sharpener rotor with a press fit. All shavings are then caught in a removable bin.
