Bird feeder | suet ball holder
A lovely suet ball holder with a roof for rain protection. Keep the little wild birds in your garden fed over the winter with this little house-inspired feeder. The roof keeps off the worst of the rain – For the rest there are drainage holes at the bottom. The design comes with expandable chain elements so you can freely configure the mounting height I have used the V1 for over two years now and it works great. One refill lasts about 3-5 weeks.
There are several mounting options:
- A S-shaped hook with a top diameter of 30 mm for direct mounting
- Four hooks from 20 to 50 mm in diameter for branches and rails that are to be used with at least 1 chain element
- A ceiling mount to be used with screws or wall mount tape (diameter of the two screw holes 5,5 mm)
- A wall mount to be used with screws or wall mount tape (diameter of the two screw holes 5,5 mm)
Instructions
- Estimate the length of your chain if you want to print it. One chain element adds about 50 mm of length.
- Decide on your mounting option
- Print the required parts
- Insert up to four balls with the usual diameter of 50 – 60 mm. 66mm is the maximum size that fits.
- Snap-on the roof
- Assemble your mounting choice
- Place it in a visible spot where you would expect birds to go.
- Check in on the thing occasionally to refill it.
- Enjoy!
