Chinese/Lunar New Year Dragon and Lantern Wall Art
This is a Chinese New Year (CNY) 2024 or Lunar New Year decoration for the Year of the Dragon. There are many sayings placed on decorations for CNY and this one includes a common idiom.
招财进宝 (simplified) or 招財進寶 (traditional): Zhāo cái jìn bǎo From Wikipedia:
<blockquote>"Zhaocaijinbao" is an idiom, which refers to attracting wealth into the house in order to get rich. It is mostly used in greetings during the New Year or as auspicious blessings. Its English translation can be "riches and treasures come into the house."</blockquote>福 (simplified/traditional): Fú, meaning fortune or good luck
Size: 16-17 in. (40.6-43.2 cm) depending on how you join the pieces, and if you scale them.
There are three separate pieces and the linkage holes are balanced (enough). I printed the first 1.4mm red and used a change at layer macro to switch to white for the text and the dragon. The color change is not included in the 3MF as I noticed that different slicers handle it differently. I created a loop, cut it, and used a 3D pen to melt them back together for the loops to hold the pieces together. (The holes are 4mm in diameter). An alternative is to use yarn, thread, twine, or wire. Or, there are also a gazillion printable rings available. I attached my own here, though I recommend gluing or melting them to keep them stable.
3MF and STL files available.
I recommend 0.20mm layer height. I do recommend printing all three pieces at once if you are able. It makes it a single color change that way. No supports needed. I don't recommend brims or rafts.
