BLACK ROSE - Filament Painting

AVAILABLE FOR COMMERCIAL RESALE WITH TIER 2 - V2 Frame - Medium Recess Only

The goal of the Black Rose project was to bring even more depth to Hueforge without making it excessive in print time. I was able to achieve this by breaking the painting into 3 separate printable pieces. The total painting uses 8 different colors, but not on any one piece. Please read instructions for this one as there a few differences in the print method to achieve this thickness. The pieces are attached with CA glue. I found it easier to keep centered by gluing the rose on first. put the glue on the background, stay a good amount away the outline on the background (I stayed 1 inch) and don't go crazy with the amount of glue as you don't want it to squish out. Manual filament swaps can easily be done with pauses. This model will only be available to club members.

I have included a 3MF files for Bambu Studio. All of the tweaks and HRM's listed below are already in there. Please read all the instructions carefully. I will break down each piece for this to make it easier.

The Background

The background uses 5 colors. It can easily be done with 1, 2 or NO AMS/MMU. The background has a min depth of 0.96 (see frame for more details on this). The 3MF contains height range modifiers to print the first 0-0.96 @ 0.16mm layers to speed it up.

NO AMS just delete the filament changes and change them to pauses 1 by 1.

For 1 AMS just assign Color 5 (Yellow) to AMS slot 1 (A1) when you press print. When the black finishes just remove it when the green starts and replace the black with Color 5 (yellow).

For 2 AMS units -Just load and assign the colors in order and print.

Pro Tip: If you are using more colors than you have AMS units you can manually unload the last spool after the print starts. This will force a pause when this spool is eventually called up for duty. You can then swap out Color 1 / AMS Slot 1 and replace it with Color 5. Then put back in Color 4 / AMS Slot 4 and hit resume.

Filaments Used: PLA BambuLab Matte Charcoal Transmission Distance: 0.6 PLA PolyTerra TD-1 Ash Gray Transmission Distance: 0.7 PLA Bambu Lab Mistletoe Green - TD1 Transmission Distance: 1.6 PLA BambuLab TD-1 Bambu Green Transmission Distance: 1.2 PLA BambuLab TD-1 Yellow Transmission Distance: 5.3 This print uses 5 unique filaments

Swap Instructions: Start with Black At layer #14 (1.2mm) swap to TD-1 Ash Gray At layer #16 (1.36mm) swap to Mistletoe Green - TD1 At layer #20 (1.68mm) swap to TD-1 Bambu Green At layer #24 (2mm) swap to TD-1 Yellow for the rest.

The Rose

The Rose portion of the the painting uses 5 colors as well. There are a few height range modifiers in the two flower pieces. This is to print the internal infill at 10% Gyroid. This required me to change the “bottom shells” count in Strength from the recommended 999 to 3 usually found in my profiles. The HRM's are done this way to speed up the print, save material, and provide a nice smooth surface for when the black part of the painting starts. The creality hyper white used is pretty high TD @ 10. User a higher TD white when printing.

HRM's

0-0.32 @ 0.16 layer - 100% Rectilinear infill

0.32-5.44 @ 0.16 layer / 10% Gyroid infill

5.44-5.92 @ 0.16 layer - 100% Rectilinear infill

NO AMS just delete the filament changes and change them to pauses 1 by 1.

For 1 AMS just assign Color 5 (White) to AMS slot 1 (A1) when you press print.

Filaments Used: PLA BambuLab Matte Charcoal Transmission Distance: 0.6 PLA PolyTerra TD-1 Ash Gray Transmission Distance: 0.7 PLA Bambu Lab TD-1 Blue Gray 2 Transmission Distance: 2.8 PLA Polylite TD-1 Aqua Bue Transmission Distance: 3.9 PLA Creality Hyper White Transmission Distance: 10 This print uses 5 unique filaments

Swap Instructions: Start with Black At layer #77 (6.24mm) swap to TD-1 Ash Gray At layer #82 (6.64mm) swap to TD-1 Blue Gray 2 At layer #88 (7.12mm) swap to TD-1 Aqua Bue At layer #93 (7.52mm) swap to Hyper White for the rest.

The Stem

The Stem portion of the the painting uses 4 colors.

HRM's

0-0.32 @ 0.16 layer - 100% Rectilinear infill

0.32-2.40 @ 0.16 layer / 10% Gyroid infill

2.40-2.96 @ 0.16 layer - 100% Rectilinear infill

NO AMS just delete the filament changes and change them to pauses 1 by 1.

For 1 AMS Just load and assign the colors in order and print.

Filaments Used: PLA PolyLite Black Transmission Distance: 0.3 PLA Bambu Lab Mistletoe Green - TD1 Transmission Distance: 1.6 PLA BambuLab TD-1 Bambu Green Transmission Distance: 1.2 PLA BambuLab TD-1 Yellow Transmission Distance: 5.3 This print uses 4 unique filaments

Swap Instructions: Start with Black At layer #39 (3.2mm) swap to Mistletoe Green - TD1 At layer #48 (3.92mm) swap to TD-1 Bambu Green At layer #56 (4.56mm) swap to TD-1 Yellow for the rest.

As with all Hueforges if you scale the model DO NOT change the Z dimension. If you substitute filaments results will vary. If you have Hueforge you can import the STL and see how substituted filaments will change the outcome before printing and create your own colorway without surprises. If you have questions hit me up.

I use the TD-1 to measure my filament opacity which is why you see the names I have assigned to them in Hueforge. This gives me an accurate prediction. Filament TD can vary from brand to brand and even from spool to spool. If you want to measure you own for accurate predictions in Hueforge check out MY WEBSITE where I have official TD-1 units for sale.
