Gift Box #3
Gift Box Series This is the third gift box in a series of boxes that Iβm designing for Christmas this year. All the boxes are similar in size and shape but each one opens differently. If you print one I would love to see it, be sure to post it here or tag me on your socials.
I hope everyone enjoys printing them as much their loved ones will enjoy receiving them! π π
Other Gift Boxes You can find ALL the other gift boxes in the Puzzle Present Collection.
Gift Box #3 This is the third gift box in a series that Iβm making for Christmas this year. Its similar in size and shape as the other boxes in this series but the trick to opening this one is that the lid unscrews from the base.
Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The bow and ribbons are printed separately and glued on. I printed all the parts in the orientation provided. I prefer the vertical orientation for the ribbons for a smoother surface finish. I added helper pads to them to keep them stable during printing. I printed everything at .2 layer heights but the box could definitely be printed at a larger layer height without issue.
I used Gorilla Glue(aff.) for gluing on the ribbons. Put the glue in the middle and let it naturally spread out. If you donβt already own as set of these clamps(aff.) you should pick them up, they really help with gluing the ribbons on.
Printed on the Muldex rep-rap IDEX printer with Polyalchemy Elixir

Valentines Day, Birthday, Holiday

Love this, made 2 this Christmas for gift cards, were a huge hit and was a big step up from the traditional little card.
Did you use supports for the main box?
Supports are not needed.
This one is I think the easiest to print if you don't have your tolerances tuned to the max on your printer
I think so, as long as your clearance are close so when you tighten the lid it has some resistance and stays shut and square. Soon to be released #5 is probably the easiest to print but the hardest to figure out how to open. π
It would be interesting to have a reverse thread version that would be less intuitive to open.
Not a bad idea, its a pretty easy change? π€
very nice! Why is ther a Gift Box #1 and #3 but no #2 ? 8-)
Wow, someone noticed! π€£ #2 is almost done. The spring is giving me all kinds of troubles. I think the final design is on the printer tonight.
