STEPH – Screen Top Edge Phone Holder (Print-in-Place)

Your phone — right where you’re already looking.

STEPH is a compact, print-in-place phone holder designed to sit on the top edge of laptops, flat monitors, and tablets — keeping your phone comfortably in view while working without cluttering your desk.

It folds down into a slim, pocket-sized form when not in use, then quickly deploys into a stable screen-mounted holder or desktop stand with fine angle adjustment.

Why I Designed STEPH

I wanted to use an old iPhone for addition screen space and streaming without using my MacBooks resources. This is a simple way to keep my phone visible while working — for videos, streaming, notifications, calls, timers, or reference content — without constantly reaching down to my desk or filling it with stands and clutter.

STEPH uses unused space at the top of your screen, placing your phone naturally within your line of sight. It’s compact, mechanically satisfying, and built as a single print-in-place assembly with no hardware or supports required.

It’s inspired by the versatility of my earlier Phone Multi-Widget, but refined into a smaller, cleaner, and purpose-built form.

Key Features

  • ✔ Screen-top mounting for laptops, flat monitors, and tablets
  • ✔ Also works as a compact desktop phone stand
  • ✔ Print-in-place — no assembly required
  • ✔ Compliant indexed joints for firm positioning and smooth adjustment
  • ✔ Adjustable for different phone thicknesses and viewing angles
  • ✔ Folds flat into a super compact form
  • ✔ No supports, hardware, or adhesives needed

Compatibility

  • Screen thickness: up to 9mm
  • Phone thickness: up to 15mm (with or without case)

Printing Notes

STEPH is a high-precision print-in-place design and requires a well-tuned, properly calibrated printer for best results.

Print in the provided orientation with no supports.

(Recommended slicer settings are included in the documentation images.)

Yeah, let me know what you think of this. Also, I update the original with a few but maybe meaningful improvements. Definitely tightened it up and improved the sliding section.
