Logical Modular Planters
Logical Modular Planters - Build Any Length You Want
Build the planter as long as you need it. The Logical Modular Planter system snaps together from printed sections to create planters ranging up to over a meter long - and beyond if you keep adding mid sections. Every section interlocks, latches securely, and is designed to survive outdoors for years when printed in ASA.
This is a proper outdoor planter, not a decorative prop. The walls are ribbed internally to guide roots downward, drainage openings in the floor prevent waterlogging, and the section joints use an embedded compliant latch that holds everything firmly together without any hardware.
How It Works
The system is built from four printed parts:
End Section A (Male) - one for each end of your planter End Section B (Female) - the opposite end cap Mid Section - adds length; use as many as you want, from zero upward Connector - presses onto the wall joint at each section connection
Slide the male end of each section onto the adjacent female end, then press a Connector piece onto each wall joint from above. The embedded latch inside the wall joint prevents the sections from sliding apart once engaged. To disassemble, press a small flat screwdriver blade into the slot at the latch to release it, then slide the sections apart.
Approximate Dimensions
All configurations are 240mm tall and 210mm front to back. Total length depends on how many sections you snap together.
2 sections (ends only): 480mm / 18.9 inches 3 sections (1 mid): 720mm / 28.35 inches 4 sections (2 mid): 960mm / 37.8 inches 5 sections (3 mid): 1200mm / 47.25 inches
Add additional mid sections to go longer.
Print Settings
Material: ASA is strongly recommended for outdoor use. PETG is the suggested alternative if ASA is not available. Nozzle: 0.4mm Layer Height: 0.2mm Line Width: 0.4mm Walls: 4 (1.6mm) Top and Bottom: 5 layers (1.0mm) Detect Thin Walls: On Wall Generator: Arachne Infill: 70% or higher Brim or Raft: No Support: Do not add slicer supports. Support geometry is built into the design and removes cleanly after printing. Print Orientation: As per the included 3MF files
Slow Down by Height - Required
The walls are intentionally thin to minimize material use. This keeps the design practical to print but makes the tall sections vulnerable to vibration-induced failure as height increases. You must enable Slow Down by Height in your slicer or the sections will likely fail before completion.
Recommended values (adjust for your slicer):
Slow down by height: Enabled Starting height: 180mm Speed at starting height: 100mm/s Acceleration at starting height: 3000mm/s2 Ending height: 250mm Speed at ending height: 80mm/s Acceleration at ending height: 2000mm/s2
