Folding Scalpel Pocket Knife v2.1
This folding scalpel handle is stronger and stiffer and can accommodate all #4 scalpel handle blades (up to 60mm in total length). I have tested it with #18, #20, #21, #22, #23, #24 and SwitchBack blades.
The pivot utilizes an offset radii design allowing it to print easily and still rotate tight in the open and closed positions. Check it out!
100% printed - no hardware, fasteners, or adhesives required. No support required
Print Settings:
I have tested this design on multiple printers using PETG, ABS+ and PLA. Print settings can vary significantly between users so please note my settings and let me know if you are having difficulty. Revisions and Updates I occasionally update and revise my designs. When I do, I’ll document the changes here. Check back periodically for the latest revision notes or if you’re experiencing any issues with a model.
2024-07-26 Update: This is now version 2.1 of this knife which now has improved geometry to help keep the blade closed and or opened as well as a detent on the closed side to minimize the chances of it partially opening in your pocket.

Awesome, Thanks for posting the make. I think those make a great gift. Nice.
Thank you for posting the make. Looks great!
Thank you for posting the make and your comments. Very much appreciated.
Nice little print on my A1mini - took around 40 minutes and came out pretty nice and fully functional. Blade insertion was tough but worked with a little force. Did some minor deburring on the edges. Holds an #24 blade wothout effort. So far one of the best functional print-in-place models since I started 3D printing almost a decade ago... Good work! BTW: What a crappy pictureshow and lightbox here at thangs :(
Thank you for your comments. Appreciated.
Please create a version without the huge logicalplanet text in it. It's ugly, it doesn't print well because the bridges / supports needed make it rough. If I paid for this, I should be able to choose to not have a huge piece of irrelevant text across it.
I do not mind making one for you or anyone else who purchases the design or my memberships and wants it without the text. FYI: The reason for the text is I have had several occasions where other people around represent my products as their own. I will add an unbranded version to the posting for you.
Ok, I see. Let me investigate and I will get back to you. Thank you.
Awesome thank you
Is it possible you can send me a link to a supplier of that blade. I want to check out the dimensions. It appears to be a lot longer than the 60a blades I have. Also, can you email it to me at pdb6251@gmail.com.
Email just sent
Do you think we could add a detent bump or something to keep the blades closed more securely? Could also do an island so you have to push the blade sideways and out for it to release.
I notice the knife point will come out behind the handle even just with gravity. Worried about it being in a bag or something and slicing fingers open. I will keep a rubber band on mine that's already printed.
Great comments. I think those are both great ideas. I will see if I can add them. Thank you.
Do read the directions first. I struggled with that support removal LOL I printed at .12 with a .4 nozzle on a Bambu A1 Mini....still didn't come out really smooth but it works!
no issues here on a mini at 0.2. Things like this dont require the wall finish of .12
I think something shrunk but didnt reduce any size. A 60A blade doesnt close? Did i do something wrong?
Can you send me a photo?
I will create another post with the picturewhen i get hone from work today.
annoying that I waited 12 days to make this (waiting on blades to show up) and then miss that the files used to be free, but the V1. was truly an inferior thing but I felt potential. I am making a pair for every outdoorsman and fisher in my life so they always have a sharp blade on them and it's just 12 grams away.
