**Gift Box #16**

This is my fourth season making these gift boxes. Each year I design five different versions. They all may look the same from the outside but each one has a different secret way of opening. 

This is the first gift box of 2024 or the sixteenth in total. There is a cam connected to the center loop of the bow. When you turn the loop it pushes out all four top spring loaded ribbons allowing the box top to be pulled off. 

WARNING You will need to use a lubricant of some kind to reduce the cam friction so it turns more easily. I suggest [PTFE Lubricate Spray]( https://amzn.to/4fQ7hgo )(aff). Its a thin spray that dry's but doesn't seem to lose its lubrication over time. Its like magic, seriously. 

Printing
Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top prints in place as one part, none of the parts require supports, designed for a .4mm nozzle. The bow and ribbons for the top are printed separately and are glued on. I used [Starbond Medium CA]( https://amzn.to/494tHIc )(aff) glue. I printed all the parts in the orientation the stl’s are provided in. Use helper discs or a bring to them to keep the ribbons stable during printing.  I printed everything at .2 layer heights but the box could definitely be printed at a larger layer height without issue.

**Kanan Jarrus Collapsing Lightsaber**
_Single Extruder Multi-Part Version_

This version of the lightsaber has been broken into different parts so they can be printed separately in different colors then glued together. There are locators for all the parts. The cap is screwed on so the blades can be printed separately then inserted or replaced.

**Collapsing Tritana**
_Replaceable Blade Version_

This sword has a katana style handle with a collapsing three edged blade. It has a cap that can be removed by squeezing the sides so the blades can be printed separately then inserted or replaced. The wrap prints with the guard so I manually swapped the filament after the guard to get a different color wrap.

This model is similar to the original [Mini Gear Fidget](https://than.gs/m/721939) but with two gears instead of its original four so it’s even quicker to print. Now it only takes 8g of filament each. The two gears and shaft rotate independent of each other without supports, use a .4mm nozzle.
