Modified/split the SVG file from https://freesvg.org/america-flag-map-with-stroke Which was published in the public domain.

I split the paths (by color), and imported separately into TinkercCAD (scaled to 5%), setting each one to a different height.

You can use a plug in for Cura (or other slicer) to set a filament change when the layers start.

Each version assumes a layer height of 0.2mm, with a first layer height of 0.3mm. For standard American flag. Start with red. Change to blue as layer 3, Change to white at layer 5. For the thin blue line American flag. Start with black. Change to white at layer 3, Change to blue at layer 5.

Default print size is 128mm x 78.765mm x 1.3mm high My print bed is 310x310. I'm able to scale x and y by 200% for 256mm x 157.53mm, or 225% for 288mm x 177.2212mm. If you adjust the Z scale (to make the map thicker), you'll need to adjust the filament color changes accordingly.


5/25 Tested the thin blue line version. Working thru some issues, but not a bad first test. Stringing between the stars - I'm dehydrating the white filament now. Z hop was already enabled. There are little spaces within the stars.... should probably increase the number of layer (z scale 200% or more) and/or use a finer resolution than 0.2mm. Also looks like a little under extrusion on a few of the white stripes. I'm thinking of turning surface ironing on for a smoother finish.

5/25 I printed the red, white, and blue version. Z-axis scaled to 200%, layer height of 0.1mm resolution, and ironing on.

Resolution: 0.2mm, initial layer height 0.3mm Thin blue line..... 300% scale on Z-axis. Height is now 3.9mm. Start with black. Change to white at layer 8. Change to blue at layer 14. * 10 to 20% infill grid ?

With ironing on, but scaled to 300% on z-axis. Start with black Change to white at layer 8. Change to blue at layer 14. 200% scale on z-axis. Height is 2.6mm Start with black Change to white at layer 6. Change to blue at layer 10.
