Mini Space Prop Gun | Lensor Radii | Sci-Fi Prop Blaster
bylensisengineeringI had an idea one day when I woke up, so I drew it on a paper towel in sharpie. With that crude design, I mocked something up in Fusion 360. After a few iterations, mostly of the connectors for registration when gluing, I ended on this design.
The loose version has a tolerance of 0.4mm between the parts (the registration bits for lining up and better grip when gluing), while the standard version has 0.1mm. The standard is designed to be a snug fit, and require minimal glue to stick the pieces together.
Speaking of gluing, the barrel can be tough to keep straight. My trick is to fold some paper down to a few ~5mmx5mm squares, about 4 layers thick if using the standard white notebook paper. These can then be wedged in on multiple sides of the barrel, allowing for inwards pressure on the sides that need it. Hopefully that makes sense, and happy gluing!
