Forest Chess set

Dear member,

Today I am exited to present you a collaboration project with forgecore ! You will surely know him from his awesome functional plant designs. He came up with the idea to create a mushroom chess set and I was very pleased to be part of this project.

The set consists of a foldable board that rolls up into a portable log. The figures are all based on different mushroom species.

The log is based on a 3d scan of a “Pinus sylvestris” tree that I found a while ago while hiking. Forgecore turned it into this amazing board. I sculped all figures while reusing some elements that I have made for previous projects. We chose the mushrooms based on how their shape resembled the according figure.

Pawn: Boletus edulis

Rooks: Lentinula edodes

Knight: Morchella esculenta

Bishop: Pleurotus eryngii

Queen: Amanita muscaria

King: Cantharellus cibarius

I think this turned out terrific and definitely stands out.
