This is a very weird mechanism I found based on this video from thang010146:

The knob can only turn one direction and when it is turned, tensions the spring and provides a snappy turn. For now, it is a fidget toy, but I think I can use this mechanism in a more functional design.

No supports needed, printed with .2 layer height in PLA.
